Ocular Motor Dysfunction
Oculomotor dysfunction covers two separate but related vision difficulties. When people track an object moving in the environment, they rely on smooth pursuit eye movements. When eyes seek to follow an object very precisely from point to point, they rely upon saccadic eye movements. Poor smooth pursuit eye movements can result in poor coordination or athletic performance. Poor saccadic eye movements can lead to difficulty reading, or in some cases, a diagnosis of dyslexia. In both cases, at Brecheen Learning & Vision Center, we can perform a number of tests to determine whether a patient needs treatment for oculomotor dysfunction.
Attention Deficit Disorder
Experts don't agree upon the causes or treatment for attention deficit disorder, which has many different forms and causes. What is clear, is that many times a patient with an ADD or ADHD diagnosis can find some help through a thorough eye examination and evaluation.
